About Us
It is estimated that by 2015 there will be no independent retailers on our high streets.
The Federation of Small Businesses is running a huge campaign to avoid the loss of these important businesses and to try to create diversity and choice for the consumer.
With all of our high streets beginning to look the same, we need to support our small traders in other ways. The power of the consumer is greatest, and whilst many shops may be disappearing from the street, they are very much present on the internet, with some offering unique goods delivered direct to the consumer, thereby cutting out the middle man.
Recognising the importance of the role of the supermarket and the power they have to bring locally produced goods to the consumer, is vital. Media coverage from the likes of Messers Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and Jamie Oliver has already had a positive impact on the supermarket shelf, creating greater diversity whilst making a store more relevant to the region.
With fuel prices increasing dramatically, in turn, pushing up inflation, it is more important than ever that even the large stores can source local goods where possible.
