The Compost Heap
August 1, 2009 by admin
What image is conjured in your head when you think of a Compost Heap?
This innovative Sussex based company manufactures a range of cards and gifts based on the lives of vegetables, fruits and flowers, all hand drawn by the artist George Ashton-Jones.
The concept was dreamt up in late 2001, but it was not until spring 2003 that the first shoots (cards) appeared. Since 2003 the hand drawn images often using a small play on words can be found in selected retailers around the world.
George Ashton-Jones, the artist continues:
“I try to create characters which are colourful and pleasing on the eye. The message is designed to be gently humorous – to bring a smile to your face – perhaps some relief in your frantic day”.
Greeting cards are printed and packed in Sussex, actively supporting local business.
Their aim is to produce products of the highest quality, whilst endeavouring to source the best raw materials (paper, ink, envelopes etc) for both the consumer and the environment. Ideas are fresh, original, organic, healthy and fun, with George constantly working on new images and ideas.
Visit The Compost Heap website, where you can purchase securely online or contact the company with a view to retailing these cheery items from your store.
