Many small and medium size businesses suffer greatly as the mountain of red tape and legislation increases.
Although the government says it has aimed to reduce this, in reality, businesses face a new or altered piece of legislation every three to four months.
Whilst larger companies have dedicated staff handling such issues, in smaller and medium sized businesses, this work burden lands on the shoulders of the business owner (often a sole trader), who is trying to get on with making a living.
If local trade is to survive in this economic climate we need to allow the trader to concentrate on what he does rather than on government paperwork. We need to put a stop to the distractions posed by pen pushing.
