For almost 100 years there has been a Fish and Chip shop located in Salford Road, in the village of Galgate, near Lancaster, Lancashire.
It has been suggested that the shop was a favourite for Prince Charles who, when staying at the Duke of Westminster’s estates would send his chauffeur for fish and chips.
There is no proof of this but even so it is a lovely story.
The current owner Phil Jennings has had an interesting and diverse life. At one point being an Army lecturer.
He became a pilot in Southern Africa working for the charity www.MAFSA.co.za being involved in flying aid for the Mozambique flood relief in 2001/2002.
Phil took over the fish shop six years ago which now offers a varied range of items of food as well as the basic Cod/Haddock and chips, speciality items include Deep fried Battered Mars Bars, fig rolls and even grapes. Of course he has a full range of Pies, Pizza, sausage etc.
He cooks in a traditional Beef Dripping but also offers vegetable oil for vegetarians.
